Soldiers Point Marina’s Chief Instructor Sailing School Instructor Graham Oborn  has taken Gold at the Pan Pacific Masters Games held on the Gold Coast over the past few days. Attracting 14,500 athletes competing in 42 sports, Graham a highly experienced international yachtie and previous World Masters Sailing Champion, was sailing a Laser in the Singlehanded Off the Beach Class competing in the over 70s class but competing against much younger sailors.

“It was great to be out on the water competing again” said Graham, who keeps himself fit with a rigorous daily fitness regime.

“I love now being in the position to teach young people the thrill of sailing, team work and responsibility and get them out and about on the water and away from their electronic devices” said Graham – a Yachting Australia accredited instructor.

We lived in Sydney for many years before moving up to Port Stephens.  Our favourite area for boating in the Sydney region has always been Cowan Creek and the lower Hawkesbury River with beautiful sculpted sandstone scenery.  Now that we keep our boat at Soldiers Point Marina we enjoy being members of the Eclat Club so that we can sail down to the Hawkesbury area during the summer holidays and use Bobbin Head Marina as our base of operations.  At Bobbin Head we get the same excellent service that we do at Soldiers Point.  This allows us to really enjoy the very different anchorages and environments that these two areas offer.  The Eclat Club is a brilliant idea and we would recommend that residents of all member marinas take advantage of the reciprocal opportunities to experience some of the best marinas and boating areas along the East Coast of Australia.
