Soldiers Point Marina hosted the SB3 National Championship with world champions and Olympians, held as part of Sail Port Stephens 2010 from the 12th to the 18th of April.
The boats, measuring 6.15 metres in length, all arrived on trailers – from as far south as Melbourne and as far north as the Hamilton Island.
A record number, the largest fleet ever assembled in Australia, contested the National Championship – with 17 of the fastest growing one design boats in the world making their way to Port Stephens for the first time.
The Australian importer, Rod Jones also competes in the boats he sells, and he was delighted with this year’s event.
“Sail Port Stephens was fantastic, and the guys at Soldiers Point Marina really looked after us – everyone who came this year has had a great time both on and off the water – and numbers are set to nearly double next year – we might even see a few more international competitors make their way down under!“ he said.
Soldiers Point Marina will again host the fleet in 2011, with numbers expected to swell to over 30 boats.
